One shopping cart. One minute. One warehouse full of high-end merchandise. Learn what it's like to run in one of our most rewarding sales incentive experiences.
Scroll DownNormally we use our blog as a way to share our thought leaders’ latest ideas on the industry. This time around, we thought we’d let one of our very own program participants take the floor. This guest blog is brought to you by a participant in one of our latest Warehouse Windfall programs.
First, a little background: Warehouse Windfall is a unique model used to reward top performers with a VIP trip that culminates in the ultimate shopping spree in a private warehouse packed full of swag (think along the lines of Samsung, Kate Spade, Apple, Beats by Dre). As you can imagine, this is a pretty thrilling experience…but we’ll let our participant, Aaron tell you all about it.
When I was a child one of my favorite game shows was Supermarket Sweep. I have always wanted to do something like this: run through a supermarket picking up all the food I could imagine and keep what I take as I cross the finish line.
Funny enough, back in July of last year, I was given the opportunity to fulfill this crazy childhood dream. My company announced Rock the House, an incentive that (if earned) would allow my colleagues and me to run through a warehouse packed full of electronics, housewares, cookware…you name it! My wife and kids may have been even more excited to hear about this program than me.
Every month I checked in on my progress. Each month I got a little closer to earning the incentive. As I approached the last quarter of the incentive, I was doing everything in my power to sell more, drive more business in key areas and earn this exclusive opportunity. My family wasn’t shy about bringing up my goal and encouraging me to get there; it became a common topic in our house.
In the final week of the year it became official…I was going to run through the warehouse! I increased one line of business by 75% and the other by over 50%, which meant great revenue lift for my company…win/win for us both.
In the days leading up to the event, I actually started getting nervous; 60 seconds is not a lot of time and I really wanted to grab something for everyone in my family to thank them for their awesome support along the way. The pressure was on – and I was pumped.
The day finally came. What an amazing experience! We were greeted by a crowd of people cheering and congratulating us on our accomplishment. There was an amazing emcee hyping up everyone. It was such a feeling of accomplishment to earn this and to be treated like a celebrity. Well, my turn to run finally came along, and let me say this: 60 seconds goes even faster than I thought. In all the excitement, I managed to grab a ton of cool and unique items and I couldn’t wait to show it off.
When I got back home, I shared the whole experience with my family. The following week, the the boxes began to arrive. I just had to giggle when one of my kids said “holy cow Dad, it’s like Christmas in here - awesome!”
I am forever grateful to my company for this opportunity. If given the chance again there will be plenty of motivation to earn it a second time – no doubt about it.
